Union City - Connected and Cultivated
Union City and Obion County offers residents a multitude of pleasant neighborhoods, midtown homes and homes nestled in the rural setting for which this part of NWTN is famous. There are a variety of attractions throughout this area. Visit historic downtown where you will find restaurants, shopping ranging from boutiques to furniture, and many of these businesses are housed in historical buildings dating back to the 1800 and 1900s. Enjoy the arts by attending a performance at the Masquerade Theater inside the historic Capitol Theater building.
Once known as an industrial powerhouse, Union City is connected by air, water, rail, and road. In fact, Union City got its name from being marked as the union between a railroad connecting the north and south. Today, Union City continues to be influenced by industry. It is home to Goodyear Tire Plant, the leading center for jobs in Union City, followed by Tyson Foods and the Kohler Company.
A Place To Call Home
Family living is very important to the citizens of Union City from good schools to recreational activities to healthcare. The schools are relatively new being built from the 90s up to 2007 and offer all of the latest technology and athletics. For higher learning, Union City is also conveniently located near UT Martin. Recreational activities are available for all ages ranging from the Union City Athletic Leagues, parks, hunting, fishing, and golf. Healthcare is also offered locally thanks to the Baptist Hospital and the numerous clinics located here.
If more modern entertainment is your style, try out the movie theater, shopping in one of Union City’s shopping centers such as the Marketplace or the Fashion Center, or one of the park and recreational facilities. If you’re interested in nightlife enjoy music and drinks at Blues City Bistro or enjoy dinner from fast food to fine local dining such as Sassafraz Restaurant. Union City also holds many festivals ranging from the Obion County fair to the annual Corn Festival much like its neighboring city Martin hosts its own TN Soybean Festival. Celebrating its rich past, Union City offers residents museums and will soon be the home of Discovery Park of America, a 50 acre education and entertainment complex slated for opening in 2012.
